I grew up playing multiple sports which allowed me to develop a variety of skills and work with different styles of coaching. My love for basketball started at an early age. I remember being in my driveway for hours with my dad trying to learn to do a lay up correctly. I practiced my dribbling and shooting so often that I would wear out the skin on my basketballs. I went to Lake Braddock High School where I continued my career as a multi-sport athlete earning All-Region honors for basketball, field hockey, soccer, and softball. In high school, I had the opportunity to play for coaches who challenged me, motivated me and taught me the value of working hard. I am fortunate to call those coaches my friends today. While I love all sports, my love for basketball remains unmatched.
I chose to attend George Mason University to play Division 1 basketball. I was fortunate because GMU was close to my home and my family could still attend my games. During my time at GMU, I was able to take my game to a level that I never thought was possible. I learned how to push mind and my body to accomplish my goals both on and off the court. I remember going to the Patriot Center late at night with my teammates to set up our shooting machine and get in extra shots before our games. My hard work paid off as I am now in the record books as 11th all-time for three-point shots made and 22nd all-time for assists.
I graduated from GMU with a degree in psychology and I returned to GMU to obtain my Master’s degree in Counseling. I have a passion for working with people of all abilities. My athletic experience has taught me how to work hard to achieve my goals. I currently work as a Program Manager for Adults with Mental Illness where I spend my time training my staff members and working with our consumers to help create a better future for them.
I have also continued my work as a basketball coach and trainer part-time doing everything from running basketball camps to coaching at Falls Church High School. I am excited to be working with such a wonderful training program at Evolution. The knowledge, hard work and commitment from the trainers is admirable and I am happy to be part of such a strong team.
