Exercise has been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. Though my first organized sport was actually Tae Kwon Doe, I started playing basketball and I feel in love with the sport at an early age. My first season of basketball was in the 6th grade where soon after I was introduced to Alex Harris and we instantly clicked. He has been my trainer, coach, mentor, and friend since the beginning. He has introduced me to so many things, including my love for the game of basketball, exercise, and pushing myself to new levels.
Playing basketball at Fairfax High School I was fortunate enough to be named a starter and captain on the varsity team for four years. It was a great experience that taught me leadership skills from day one. Learning how to be a captain as a freshman and tell the seniors what to do was a tough but rewarding experience. After high school I continued my playing career at Lynchburg College under Abby Pyzik for another four years. Coach Pyzik was able to help me take my game to a new level to have a successful college career. I learned many things through playing high school and college basketball, but I truly believe the most important are commitment, leadership, and perseverance.
I was able to get my degree in Exercise Physiology at Lynchburg College and absolutely loved the program because it allowed me to learn about the human body and exercise. While at Lynchburg I conducted a research study titled, “Self-perceived Physical Fitness versus Actual Physical Fitness in NCAA Division III Female College Athletes”, where my poster presentation received second place for the entire senior class at the Student Scholar Showcase. I fell in love with exercise through basketball and I received the opportunity to learn the physiology behind it to help improve athletes in strength, agility, and performance.
I have a great passion for helping others to become the best they can be. I am so excited to be working at Evolution as a Strength & Conditioning Trainer to instill the knowledge I have gained over the years and help improve the younger generations. I truly look forward to working with you and helping you to reach your goals to becoming stronger, quicker, and improving over-all athleticism. I am so blessed to be giving back to the organization that has helped me become the person I am today. Thank you for this opportunity.
