Lisa Murphy could not have chosen a better place to enjoy her college career! Carnegie Mellon was a perfect match for her and she has proven that on and off the court over the last three years. We are so proud of all that Lisa has accomplished and congratulate her on a fantastic Junior season.
The numbers don’t lie….
Lisa was most recently named Co-Player of the Year for the University Athletic Conference. She led the conference in FOUR categories!
- Points per Game – 23.7 (2nd in the NATION)
- Field Goal Percentage – 75.2 (1st in the NATION)
- Rebounds per Game (11.2)
- Blocks per Game (1.9)
These statistics are incredibly impressive at ANY level, but even more so as a Junior in college!
Lisa was also named to the d3hoops.com Great Lakes All-Region First Team after leading Carnegie Mellon to the best season in school history! Throughout the season, Murphy dominated opponents and was rewarded for her play on six occasions by d3hoops.com on the Team of the Week. She also received NINE UAA Athlete of the Week Awards and was recognized twice as the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Division III Women’s National Player of the Week.
And she dominates in the classroom as well….
Lisa is one of two Juniors that was named to the 2015-2016 CoSIDA Division III Women’s Basketball Academic All-America Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She holds a 3.78 GPA in Psychology and spends her free time as a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Council and secretary of Psi Chi, the International Psychology Honor Society. She has interned with the Children’s School at Carnegie Mellon, spent time as a summer camp aide at Life Changing Fitness Kids in Falls Church, and volunteered for Special Olympics and Best Buddies.
As shy and reserved as Lisa is, she will would probably hate that we are putting the March spotlight on her…. yet it could not be more deserved! Way to go Lisa, we are so proud of you and all that you have accomplished! Keep up the good work!
