This is the story of two frogs. One of them was fat and the other one was skinny. One fine day, when they were looking for food, they jumped into a bucket of milk inadvertently. Now, as the sides were too slippery they were unable to get out. The fat frog spoke to the skinny frog, “Brother, swimming is of no use anymore. We’re going to drown, so we should give up.” The skinny frog looked in awe and replied, “Hold on my friend, keep swimming. Someone will get us out.” And they continued paddling for some time.

After a while, the fat frog said, “Brother, there’s no use. I’m really exhausted now. I’m just going to stop paddling. We’re doomed. There’s no way out of here.” But the skinny frog said, “Keep trying. Keep swimming. Keep paddling.” Another couple of hours passed.

The fat frog said, ” This is nonsense, I can’t go on any longer. We’re going to drown anyway. What’s the use?” And then he gave up, he drowned in the milk. But the skinny frog kept on paddling.

Ten minutes later, the skinny frog felt something solid beneath his feet. He had churned the milk into butter and he jumped out of the bucket.

Analysis & Commentary by Kamari Hunter
When I look at this story I think of two types of people. The fat frog (an individual with a negative mindset) and the skinny frog (an individual with a positive mindset). The outcome you outwardly speak or think will translate into your reality; as we see in this parable between the two frogs. The skinny frog refused to give up no matter how bad the situation seemed while the fat frog allowed the unlikely setting diminish his hope. Any dream that you hope to achieve is possible, your mindset towards it will determine the outcome. We are often meant to be placed in a setting that seems unlikely/uncomfortable because it may be the exact experience we need in order to excel at our given dream (had the frogs been placed in water they wouldn’t have been able to get out, the milk was the perfect situation). I also believe that the frogs being fat versus skinny symbolizes how a negative mindset can weigh you down. They were both placed in a situation inadvertently or unintentionally, just as many of us are placed in a situation that we may feel is unfavorable but what if there was a reason for us to be in that place? What if the thing that we see as a weakness now will later be used as growth towards our strength in the long run?…all depends on your mindset!
