What separates athletes at the next level is not always talent. It is the habits they build and the work they put in every single day.
For Grace Arnolie, a guard at Brown University, that mindset has been the foundation of her journey from a young athlete to competing in the Ivy League.
Grace played multiple sports growing up, but basketball quickly stood out.
“By the time I was in 2nd or 3rd grade I knew basketball was my favorite because it just came more naturally to me than the other sports.”
With her dad, a former college player, coaching her early on, she built a strong foundation and developed a real connection to the game. That early passion turned into consistent work, which is where real development begins.
For families looking to build that same foundation early, having the right training environment and consistent structure makes all the difference.
One of the biggest lessons Grace has learned is focusing on what she can control.
“Everyone has off days or off games, but if you know you are putting in the work, that is the most important thing.”
Instead of getting frustrated when shots are not falling, she shifts her focus to effort, communication, and toughness. That mindset keeps her grounded and allows her to stay productive no matter how the game is going.
This is exactly what we emphasize every day in our training environment. Whether athletes are in Fundamental Training, Advanced Training, or College Prep, the focus is always on controllable habits. Effort, energy, and consistency come first, because when players focus on the work, the results follow.
At the college level, effort and energy separate players.
“The best players who help their team the most are the ones who give 100% effort for every minute they are on the court.”
Grace emphasizes the importance of doing the little things. Sprinting back on defense, being vocal, and competing on every possession are what build trust and create opportunities. Being the player who brings energy every day is what makes you valuable to any team.
Consistency is what brings it all together. One of Grace’s most memorable moments came when her team reached the Ivy League Tournament after years of working toward that goal.
“Finding out we made the tournament felt like all of our hard work paying off.”
That moment was built through daily habits, steady improvement, and a team committed to getting better every day.
It is the same approach we see from athletes who train consistently at Evolution. Players who commit to training throughout the year, just like Grace did during her middle school and high school years, build real momentum over time. Consistent reps, steady improvement, and showing up week after week are what lead to long term success.
Grace’s impact at Brown goes far beyond single games. Her consistency and production have placed her among the top players in program history.
